Today, IRDI [Indonesia Research and Development Institute] launched their survey on Presidential Candidate 2009. It said that President SBY [57.5%] more popular than Megawati [40%]. SBY also 77% more populer than Jusuf Kalla [19%]. SBY [63%] more popular than Wiranto [32%]. SBY [66%] more popular than Sri Sultan HBX [29%). And also compared with Sutiyoso [19%], and Hidayat Nurwahid [24%]. The survey also stated that the best vice president candidate to run with SBY is [still] Jusuf Kalla [24%], instead of with Sri Sultan [17%], Hidayat [15%], or Sutiyoso [7%].
Seems that this very similar to the result on the 2004 election. Despite that some people voice their disappointment with the performance of President SBY, but still he is the safes candidate on the menu. Who could be raise to the scene with a fresh air like Obama in the US ???
To me, definitely I will still vote for SBY [that's why there's a link in this blog, and not of Akbar Tanjung's...hehehe] Perhaps, one explanation people still go for SBY despite his lacking in performance, is that people looks for a stature at the top, someone can serve with sincerity and trust. Of course, I hope that with that kind of mandate SBY can be more decisive in putting pro-people and pro-poor policies.
Another simple reason why I vote SBY, is because as Indonesian, I can feel proud to have a president like him, a more "presidential figure" that we currently have. Somehow, I would not feel any pride if the Indonesian President is ... [the other on the current "menu"] :)

Nice point there. I guess SBY has a strong Brand Name. SBY is the most memorable, pronouncable names around. Even compared to previous presidents. Its hard to pronounce Suharto, BJ Habibie, Megawati. And compare that with SBY.
Another reason why SBY is more popular, is because SBY is less evil. Megawati is a failed president. JK is a out of touch with the people. Wiranto is an alleged war criminal. Sri Sultan has never had any political achievements neither has Sutiyoso
